What is Information Literacy (IL)?
While there is no agreed upon definition for IL, it is basically the ability to seek out and use appropriate information in an age of information abundance. While students might be excellent at finding information, are they finding the right information? Does it answer the question?
Students can use models as a guide when they are putting together their assessment items, particularly when you are using guiding questions. One of the models you could use when answering your question is Kuhlthau's Information Search Process (ISP). Her model not only talks about the steps to answer guiding questions, but how you might be feeling at each stage of your assignment.
